I generally like Jon Stewart, but he's veering dangerously close to O'Reillyism in his "I won't shut up I'll just keep talking over you until you stop trying to say anything that might not square with the point I'm belaboring to death right now and I want to get to my applause point" mode for too much of this clip.

Intelligent discourse requires taking a breath now and then.

The more elegant technique would have been to let the guest hang himself, with nudging questions. But he would've had to find a way to get words in edgewise with his energy. They escalated quickly and stayed there.
