We are all Israelis
Libertarians are equivalent to Palestinians: they have no faith in th system and keep pressing for its wholesale dismantling. They see the gov't as so rife with waste and poor incentives that they'd rather throw the whole kit and kaboodle out.

Liberal, when exposed to libertarian ideas like the above, get all butthurt and start reflexively defending all programs against all comers.

Both could agree that gov't could do a better job of avoiding cost overruns, and does an incredibly ham-handed and ineffectual job at administering lots of functions they could manage more nimbly if they did not suffer form ideological diabetes.

** I thought of this while reflecting on last night's foray into apartheid politics and listening to some NPR cage match between CATO and the Center on Budget Policy and Priorities

Not sure I agree... most self identifying Libertarians seem to just hate that a system exists at all, regardless of if it is efficient or not.

I am not so sure its that nihilistic of an exercise. Of course, there's little party unity over there in the first place.
