I've actually visited this neighborhood with an eye to detail and form. One thing about Philly, and the Delaware Valley, the people are very nice, as long as you align with their prejudices. If you're out, you're out, and nothing is going to change that until your grandkids second cousins from out of town

I'm in DC. Actually, a block from Howard University, in the part of DC that the Green Line makes a big semicircle to avoid.

I have to admit I'm not familiar with YIPPS. I generally get off between 4 and 5, tho.

Meh. We'll probably have a post-racial America as quickly as we got a post-Irish/Italian/Jewish/German America.

Plus, pretty soon we're going to have the racial composition of Brazil, if immigration and fertility trends continue. Of course, whitey will likely keep self selecting for the nicest, most remote, car dependent gated communities they can find, and Money magazine will keep rating these places the "Most Livable Cities"

When I auditioned for Temple Univ. a few years ago, the only black people you saw downtown were beggars. If you're a rich white kid who never goes into the outer ring neighborhoods to see regular working-class blacks, you might assume that all black kids are hoodlums.

We have that in ATL to a degree. The home-school moms would like the black kids well enough if they would just "wear normal clothes, get rid of the accent, and listen to nice music."
